1. I am a pc guy trying to help a friend replace their mac g4 iBook A1005 notebook battery.

What I am not sure of is how much to trust non-genuine apple replacements. Does anyone have any trusted supplier of genuine and/or non-genuine batteries? I am not at all sure whether to trust the "compatible with aaa, bbb, ccc..." business, even when genuine apple.

Further, "all things being equal", what mA rating should is recommended? 4400ish? I just am not sure in the mac world.

    Thanks!

  3. You might want to try "PacificBattery.com".

    Good prices, excellent product.

  4. Actually, my subject had it right, but my post itself did not----it's an A1055 (not 1005).

But I cannot find the A1055 listed anywhere in any official specificationi list on the apple website (which by the way is not very well set up for support IMO. Sometimes one link that looks like regular support drills down to iTunes support, and sometimes not.)

  5. Don't worry about the part number, you may or not not see it listed. Look for the type of iBook.

I bought a Newer Technologies battery from www.macsales.com for my G4 iBook when the old one dried up. The Newer Tech has worked very well. It has a significantly higher A-h rating than the Apple battery. I know it runs longer but I've never tried quantifying it.

www.macsales.com shows three battery types for the iBook, one for all clam shell models, one for 12" screen models and one for 14" screen models. So it's pretty simple to pick one.
